Training Day in Embedded Linux and Security completes successfully
- Release on:2018-10-01
We’ve certainly welcomed the positive feedback received so far and you can see some pictures from the event below.
And do keep tuned for further announcements about training. We look forward to extend the programme to both other topics and locations, in conjunction with Doulos.
The event took place on Thursday 27 September, at The Green Park Conference Centre in Reading near the Madejski Stadium.
Embedded security
Providing detailed hands-on training, it was targeted at embedded engineers looking for an introduction to key embedded Linux and Security topics.
For example, there was a look at the anatomy of an Embedded Linux system, and it covered a wide range of tracing and profiling tools which can help to understand performance issues and also investigate bugs and unexpected behaviours. There was also consideration of coding standards and defensive programming techniques.
Streams and topics
The day was organised into two parallel Streams: Students attended one of the two streams which provide approximately six hours of combined presentations and hands on experience.
Each stream divided into four sub topics, again exposing the student to the fundamentals of each topic area.
In terms of pre-requisites a minimal knowledge or awareness of each topic area sufficed.
Some comments received on the two streams:
Embedded Linux
For a 1-day course, I thought this was a really good amount of information and practical exercises, at just the level I was looking for.
A good overview of working with embedded Linux systems, whilst also touching on some of the more complex issues and topics.
Great overview in a short time, goodies to take home, very experienced instructor, good value.
Good intro and well presented. One day is short, but still picked up useful hints and tips.
Run well, organised and good material.
It was great, helped me on my way with Linux… just when I needed it!
Embedded Security
I’d recommend this workshop as it describes different horizons and aspects of security for software development.
It’s a good start for embedded security.
Information/topics were relevant and well-communicated.
Practical exercises were well prepared and easy to follow.
Good mixture of information and examples.
